Nature is the constant in Matt's work, no matter the medium. Growing up in rural North Carolina, Matt's love of the natural world was developed at an early age. During the summer of 2020, Matt moved to Detroit, Michigan. He is now a member of Sugar Hill Clay Studio. He uses a variety of hand building techniques- slabs, coils, pinching, and the ancient Japanese method of Kurinuki (carving out of a solid block of clay). No matter the technique, nature is the constant inspiration, and Matt's artwork changes with the seasons.
Join us in welcoming Matt to the Agri-Community Saturday June 3rd 8am-1pm!
